If you can identify a passenger loading zone it should have an area where a
vehicle can pull up and also an area for unloading passenger, the unloading area
should be at the same level as the pull up space. If you cant readily identify
the loading zone you can still use the loading zone compliance check to evaluate
what you will need to meet the ada requirments.
Vehicle Pull up Space
Length
Measure the entire length of the vehicle pull up space, 20 feet will be
sufficient but you will need to enter the value in inches if using the loading
zone compliance checker. The pull up space should be outside of the access
aisle, if its not then you may not be ADA compliant; use the illustration below
for reference.
Width
Measure the width of the pull up space. The pull up space should be outside of
the access aisle, if its not then you may not be ADA compliant; use the
illustration below for reference.
Access Aisle
Access aisle is adjacent to vehicle pull up space
Use the illustration below for reference, if the access aisle is adjacent to the
full up space like the illustration then you should mark the check box.
Access aisle is at the same level as the pull up space
Your access aisle is at the same level as the pull up space when, its at the
same level; this means that there should not be any curbs between the pull up
space and the access aisle.
Access aisle is marked to discourage parking within it
If the access aisle is marked to discourage parking you will need to mark the
check box.
Width
Measure the width of the access aisle and enter the value in inches.
Length
measure the length of the access aisle, it should be as long as the pull up
space.
Slope/Cross Slope
Take a slope reading in several places along the access aisle, do slope and
cross slope and provide the highest value; your slope meter and entered value
should be provided as a percent of the slope (1:50 = 2.0%)
